Principal's Welcome
Greetings South Tech Community,
Imagine a school centered on innovation and progress, where theory and practice come together to advance the industries that drive our society and support our communities. Welcome to South Technical High School. I am Dr. Jacob Lohse, and I have had the privilege of being South Tech’s principal since 2014.
South Tech is a premier Career and Technical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Our faculty and staff are industry experts and talented educators who share a passion for applying real-world skills and educational theory practically. Our school strives to develop a balance of classroom, workshop/lab, and industry experiences that prepare students for successful futures. We develop the pathways that link their passions to colleges, technical schools, and careers while helping them build the essential skills they need to thrive.
We celebrate our diversity and the melting pot of communities in our building. Our students are welcomed with open arms and held to high standards. We believe in the potential of every student and strive to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
Safety and professional behavior are priorities here; we expect everyone to commit to sharing these responsibilities. Students, teachers, staff members, and our school families all play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and professional environment. Our curriculum and equipment provide real-world experiences, mirroring the working environments in our industries and our community. Students will frequently interact with professionals from business and industry through field trips, competitions, mentoring activities, and internships.
Professional behavior expectations include a commitment to attendance. Our programs are fast-paced and comprehensive, with daily opportunities to gain knowledge and skills. We hold our students accountable for cultivating an improved working environment wherever they go, instilling in them the confidence and preparedness they need for their future careers.
To succeed at South Tech, students must embrace the responsibility of performing safely and professionally, and commit to consistent attendance.
I welcome you to our school and am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something very special.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jacob Lohse
Principal, South Technical High School
