General FAQs

How do credits work?

Your Tech credits will first apply as Practical Art graduation requirements at your home school. After Practical Art requirements are met, all additional credits you earn at Tech will be classified as elective credit.

If your Tech program has an integrated academic credit, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Zoology, or Construction Geometry, those credits will be applied in the appropriate academic category (Science, Math, etc.).

Is Tech a full day program?

How does transportation work?

Our busses will pick you up from a stop near the primary address we have on file (AM students) or at your homeschool (PM students) and bring you to Tech. When you’re done with your class, we will take you to your homeschool (AM students) or to a stop near your primary address (PM students).

Please allow 10 days for any address or stop location changes to take effect.

If a student does not ride a stop for 10 days in a row, they may be dropped from their route.

Can I drive to Tech?

What's the process for acceptance to Tech?

Step 1- Apply to Tech (Priority Deadline of December 19, 2024)

Complete an application online and watch your email for updates and notifications as it is initially processed.
Eligible applications received by the December 19 priority deadline will be guaranteed lottery consideration. Please review your program’s page for eligibility specifics.
Eligible applications received after December 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm, will be considered once the priority deadline list of students is exhausted. Those who apply between December 19 - March 13, 2025, will be considered in order of application.
The last day to apply is Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 4:00 pm. It's highly recommended to apply, though, by the priority deadline of December 19, 2024.

Step 2 - Student lottery selection (January 22, 2025)

All 2025 applicants who meet the prerequisites for their program will be included in our lottery if received by December 19, 2024.

Step 3 - “Pending - Documents Requested” Status or remain “Pending” Status email notifications are sent (Week of January 27, 2025)

After our randomized lottery selection, all applicants will receive a status notification email indicating they are “Pending - Documents Requested” or “Pending”
- “Pending- Documents Requested” means documents from your home high school (attendance, updated transcripts, etc) will be requested and reviewed to ensure any concerns regarding attendance, discipline, or needed supports are considered. Watch your email for updates and notifications as documents are processed.
- ”Pending” means your name was not selected in the initial randomized lottery selection. Selection is still possible, though, as documents are reviewed. You will be notified via email should your status change to “Pending - Documents Requested”.

Step 4 - Student “Acceptance” or “Waitlisted” Status email notifications (beginning March 4, 2025).

All accepted students will be notified of their acceptance status
”Waitlisted” means your program is now full. You will be notified via email and a phone call if space becomes available.

Do I need to attend Preview Night?

Yes! This event is not required, but all interested students and families are strongly encouraged to attend.
South Tech programs are real-world, full immersions into careers. They are exciting, engaging, and differ from the traditional high school experience. The BEST way to understand what Tech is about is to visit us. Preview Night offers you the opportunity to fully explore our programs and be sure Tech is the right choice for you.
