SSD Employees, North Tech Students Take the 2025 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

SSD staff and North Tech students dove into the the icy waters of Creve Coeur Lake in Maryland Heights as participants in the 2025 Polar Plunge, an event that supports the Special Olympics of Missouri. Despite the chilly mist and drizzle, nothing could stop 389 brave plungers from making a splash!

Special School District proudly announces the election of Mrs. Carmen Stayton as the new President of the Board of Education, marking a historic milestone as the first person of color to hold the position. Stayton, who has served as the Board Director for Subdistrict 1—representing Hazelwood, Jennings, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights school districts—brings a wealth of experience as an educator, nonprofit leader, and advocate for students and families.
